Yesterday was the first official day of summer in the northern hemisphere - yay! That means Americans are going to start traveling and one of the biggest questions for those going to in-between places is: Should I fly or drive? BeFrugal.com should at least decide whether flying or driving is better for your wallet as they will help you figure out the costs. All you do is put in your starting location and destination, the dates you are traveling, one-way or round trip, and the number of travelers. On the next page is where you input vehicle details: make, year and model; then how many hours you plan on driving a day, how much you want to spend on a hotel. Answer a few more quick questions and you'll get the results. I entered LAX to SFO and it suggested I drive since it will cost $109.84 and will take 6 hours and 28 minutes. Flying takes just 4 hours, 7 minutes (door-to-door) but the cost was $185.95. What's also cool is they let you know your carbon footprint for both trips and flying was actually less. Who knew!
